The Chancel Choir is an Adult and Young Adult Choral Ensemble. Their repertoire spans all Western musical style periods and also includes world music, jazz, gospel and popular music. The Chancel Choir rehearses every Thursday night from 7:00-8:30pm in Room 302 on the third floor and every Sunday at 9:00am in the Sanctuary.
The Children’s Handbell Choir presents periodically throughout the year. Rehearsals for this ensemble are scheduled six weeks before the choir presents.
Music is an integral part of worship at First United Methodist Church of Glen Ellyn; we are blessed to have rich musical talent to give voice to our faith. Both our Chancel Choir and our praise team called Oasis, participate in the 10:30am service during the fall, winter and spring seasons.
The Oasis Worship Team is comprised of members of the Chancel Choir who are passionate in their desire to lead and present Praise Music. The goal of the Oasis Worship Team is to lead the congregation in singing Contemporary Christian Music. The Oasis band includes drums, piano, bass, guitar and keyboard. Oasis rehearses every Sunday at 9:30am before the worship service.
Annual Presentations of a Christmas Cantata in December, Tenebrae: Light of the World Good Friday Cantata and a congregational sing-a-long of “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah are all part of the church year. In addition, members of the church are invited to carol at the train station prior to our annual Blue Christmas service in December.
The Hymn Quartet is comprised of members of the Chancel Choir and serves to lead the congregation in four-part singing of our most beloved hymns from The United Methodist Hymnal, The Faith We Sing and Worship & Song.
